Terms of Service

Welcome to Macrition. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and Macrition (“Macrition,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), governing your access to and use of the Macrition website (macrition.com), applications, food database, calculators, AI nutrition coaching services, and related digital tools (collectively, the “Service”).

Please read these Terms carefully before accessing or using the Service. By accessing, browsing, registering for an account, or subscribing to any paid plan, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must discontinue use of the Service immediately.

1. Eligibility & Account Requirements

You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) to enter into these Terms and purchase paid subscriptions. Individuals aged 13 to 17 may only use the Service with the verifiable involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms. The Service is strictly not intended for or directed to children under 13 years of age.

When creating an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information;
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of your password and authentication credentials;
• Promptly update your email address or account details if they change;
• Accept sole responsibility for all activities, actions, and data modifications that occur under your account;
• Immediately notify our support team if you detect or suspect any unauthorized access or breach of account security.

2. Medical & Health Information Disclaimer

All mathematical calculations (including BMI, BMR, TDEE, macronutrient ratios, clinical risk assessments, body fat percentages, and micronutrient estimates) and all responses provided by our AI Nutrition Assistant are intended solely for general wellness, educational, and self-directed tracking purposes:

• Consult Your Healthcare Provider: Always consult with a qualified physician, registered dietitian, or certified medical specialist before starting any new diet, caloric deficit, supplement regimen, or rigorous physical training program.
• No Doctor-Patient Relationship: Using the Service, communicating with our AI assistant, or reading our research guides does not create a doctor-patient, clinician-patient, or confidential medical relationship.
• Medical Emergencies: If you suspect you are experiencing a medical emergency, adverse health event, or severe allergic reaction, immediately call your local emergency services (e.g., 911 in the United States) or visit the nearest emergency department. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of information accessed through the Service.
• Eating Disorders & High-Risk Conditions: The Service is not intended for the management of active clinical eating disorders (such as anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa), severe metabolic disorders, renal disease, or pediatric growth tracking. 3. Nature of the Service & Tiers

Macrition provides evidence-based nutrition calculation tools, a USDA-powered food database, meal planning software, dietary diary logs, progress analytics, and an interactive AI nutrition coaching assistant. We offer the Service under three primary tiers:

• Free Plan: Genuinely free forever. Access to every nutrition calculator, food database search, basic food diary (up to 50 entries a day, with your full history kept), up to 10 custom foods, and up to 5 daily AI assistant queries without requiring credit card details.
• Pro Plan: Billed at $7.99 monthly or $59.99 annually. Includes everything in Free plus unlimited food diary history, unlimited custom foods and bookmarks, URL-based recipe analyzer, data export (CSV, JSON), water tracker, advanced macro targets by meal, ad-free experience, priority support, and 50 AI queries per day.
• Premium Plan: Billed at $19.99 monthly or $149.99 annually. Includes everything in Pro plus unlimited AI coaching conversations, custom calculator builder, advanced predictive trend analytics, health metric correlation engine, developer API access, and 24-hour priority support.

4. 14-Day Free Trial Policy

New subscribers to the Pro plan are eligible for a 14-day free trial (the Premium plan is charged from day one):

• No Immediate Charge: When initiating a trial, you authorize our payment processor (Stripe or PayPal) to verify your payment method. You will not be charged during the 14-day trial window.
• Full Tier Access: You immediately receive complete, unrestricted access to all features included within the selected subscription tier.
• Effortless Cancellation: You can cancel at any time prior to the conclusion of the 14th day directly from your Dashboard (Dashboard → Subscription) with one click. If cancelled before the trial ends, your payment method will never be billed, and your account will gracefully transition back to the Free plan.
• One Trial Per User: Free trials are strictly limited to one per customer, payment card, or household. Creating duplicate or burner accounts to cycle free trials constitutes a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate suspension.

5. Subscription Billing, Auto-Renewal & Payments

If you do not cancel prior to the expiration of your 14-day free trial, or if you purchase a paid subscription directly:

• Recurring Billing: Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or yearly) at the prevailing plan rate until you cancel. You authorize Macrition to charge your designated payment method for each renewal cycle.
• Secure Processors: All payment transactions are handled through PCI-DSS Level 1 certified processors (Stripe and PayPal). Macrition never stores or processes raw credit card numbers on its own servers.
• Price Adjustments: Macrition reserves the right to modify subscription pricing with at least 30 days prior written notice via email or prominent platform notice. Existing subscriptions will retain their active rates until the next scheduled renewal period following notice.

6. Cancellation & 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

We believe in honest, transparent, and customer-first billing. We do not use dark patterns, retention quizzes, phone call hurdles, or hidden cancellation fees:

• Cancel Anytime: You may cancel your subscription at any time with a single click from your account dashboard. Upon cancellation, your access remains active until the end of your current pre-paid billing cycle, after which your account reverts to the Free tier with all your historic diary data preserved.
• 30-Day Full Refund Guarantee: If you are not completely satisfied within 30 days of your initial paid subscription charge (first renewal after trial or direct initial subscription), contact support@macrition.com for a 100% full refund, no questions asked.
• Annual Prorated Refunds: Annual subscribers may request a prorated refund at any point during their billing year for any full unused future calendar months.
• Refund Processing: Refunds are credited directly back to the original payment method through Stripe or PayPal within 3 to 7 business days.

7. AI Nutrition Coach & Automated Tools

Macrition utilizes artificial intelligence and natural language processing to deliver personalized dietary suggestions, macro breakdowns, and contextual nutrition insights:

• Informational Nature: AI responses are generated algorithmically using mathematical formulas and authorized large language model providers (such as OpenAI and Anthropic). AI output is not reviewed in real time by licensed clinicians.
• Strict Safety Boundaries: The AI assistant is programmed with strict safety filters. It will decline to fulfill requests promoting severe calorie restriction (<800 kcal/day), starvation diets, eating disorder encouragement, clinical diagnosis, prescription pharmaceutical recommendations, or unsafe supplement stacks.
• Verification: While we continually fine-tune our prompts and calculation engines for scientific precision, generative AI may occasionally produce inaccurate food estimates or misinterpret complex inputs. Always verify critical nutrient values against official labels.

8. User-Generated Content & Data Ownership

You retain 100% ownership of all data, custom foods, recipes, meal plans, and diary logs you create or submit to the Service (“User Content”):

• Limited Operational License: You grant Macrition a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license solely to host, store, replicate, format, and display your User Content to the extent necessary to provide and operate the Service for you across your devices.
• We Do Not Sell Your Data: Macrition does not sell, rent, or monetize your food diaries, weight logs, or private health entries to advertisers, pharmaceutical companies, or data brokers.
• Data Portability: every account, free or paid, can export its complete food diary, meal plans, and calculation records in machine-readable CSV or JSON. Free accounts get one export per day; Pro and Premium are unlimited. Portability is your right, not a perk we sell, so it is not locked behind any tier.
• Local-First Privacy: Unregistered visitors can use all calculators and tracking tools with data stored strictly in their local browser storage (localStorage) without sending personal metrics to our database.

9. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Service in any manner that violates applicable laws or impairs the availability, integrity, or security of our platform. Prohibited activities include:

• Scraping, crawling, or extracting data from our food database, calculators, or articles via automated bots, spiders, or scripts without prior written authorization;
• Attempting to bypass, probe, exploit, or reverse-engineer our authentication systems, CSRF tokens, subscription entitlement gates, or API rate limits;
• Accessing or attempting to access another user’s account, sessions, or private dietary data;
• Interfering with server performance via denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, flood requests, or automated spam;
• Sharing account credentials across multiple individuals or reselling access to Macrition tools.

10. Intellectual Property Rights

All original algorithms, calculator interfaces, designs, typography, brand marks, logos, icons, software code, research summaries, and proprietary compilations of the food database are the exclusive intellectual property of Macrition and protected by international copyright, trademark, and trade secret laws. You may not duplicate, redistribute, or create derivative works of our software or proprietary content without express written consent.

Nutrition data sourced from USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts is utilized in accordance with their respective public domain and open-access licensing terms.

11. Disclaimers of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

MACRITION DOES NOT WARRANT THAT: (A) THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR SPECIFIC HEALTH OR BODY COMPOSITION OBJECTIVES; (B) THE SERVICE WILL BE COMPLETELY ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS; (C) NUTRITION INFORMATION RETRIEVED FROM THIRD-PARTY DATABASES WILL BE 100% EXHAUSTIVE OR UP-TO-DATE FOR ALL PACKAGED GOODS. YOUR RELIANCE UPON ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED THROUGH THE SERVICE IS SOLELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MACRITION, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA LOSS, PERSONAL INJURY, DIETARY COMPLICATIONS, OR SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

IN ALL EVENTS, MACRITION’S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU TO MACRITION FOR ACCESS TO THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY.

13. Account Termination & Complete Data Erasure

You may terminate your account at any time. Under GDPR and CCPA regulations, you have the right to permanently erase your entire profile, diary logs, meal plans, and AI conversation history directly from your account settings (Dashboard → Security → Delete Account) or by contacting our Data Protection Officer at privacy@macrition.com. Upon deletion, your personal data is permanently removed from our active systems. A minimal record of billing, payment, and security events is retained where accounting or legal obligations require it, with every identifying field anonymized, exactly as described in our Privacy Policy.

Macrition reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that engage in fraudulent payment activity, abusive API exploitation, or material violations of these Terms.

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the applicable operating jurisdiction, without regard to its conflict of law principles. In the event of any disagreement, dispute, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms, you agree to first contact our support team to attempt an informal, amicable resolution in good faith before initiating formal legal proceedings.

15. Amendments to These Terms

We may update or revise these Terms periodically to reflect changes in our tools, legal requirements, or payment processors. When material updates are made, we will provide notice by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this document, posting a prominent notice on the platform, or notifying registered users via email at least 30 days prior to new terms taking effect. Continued use of the Service following the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your full acceptance.
